Bayard Black

The Deep Valley Quilters Guild was originally an informal group of women loosely guided by Jean Cuddy in 1978. She worked at the old Woolworth’s store in Mankato and began teaching the rudiments of quilting to a few interested women. Word spread, more women gathered and the quilters were formally chartered as a guild in September of 1983, sponsored by The Blue Earth County Historical Society. Fat Quarter Challenge 2008: The challenge was to see how many different projects could be created out of the same Fat Quarter (18"x22"). The size limit was 36"x36" and the participants were given six months to complete their final piece. The results were remarkable and inspired staff, clients and artists alike.
